Story Telling in a Timeless Tale

Adapted by Dr. Ceceila Pang, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens proved to be my hardest artistic challenge yet. Through the novel, we see the characters Pip, Estella, Miss Havisham, Abel Magwitch and many more, tackle life and what it means to have “Great Expectations.” Through this journey, I chose to enhance moments—when Pip learned the past of his companions, we relive these stories. Incorporated in my design, are scoring and effects that support these stories. I found the the music that fit this Industrial and dramatic world we had created was the soundtrack from The Girl wit the Dragon Tattoo by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

The Creation of the Spider-Man Rap

TesserACT was a collaboration piece between square product theatre and the Non-Binary Monologues Project to be performed at the Denver Comic Con (now Denver Pop-Culture Con). Within this piece, I found myself composing my first piece of music. With some amazing lyrics written by Ayla Sullivan, I was able find the right tempo and rhythm for the Spider-man rap. Created in GarageBand and Audacity, the beat was born and this song was performed live each night of the performance.

Technology, Media, and the Human Perspective

Honor Killing by Sarah Bierstock is a truly powerful and eye opening play that I believe the world needs to see, and I was happy to be apart of it’s 2nd (ever) production. The hardest part about designing this title was the tedious sound effects for every Skype phone call, text message, phone call and all other technological notification that could occur on a cell phone or computer. Creating the correct sequence of notifications and making sure I had the right ringtone for an incoming call vs an incoming text was the most time consuming part. The continuity was well worth it.
